The academic year's schedule

The academic year starts 29^th September 2026 and finishes 1^st July 2027. In the winter semester 2026, all classes, seminars and workshops start 29^th September and finish 21^st December 2026; the spring semester 2027 begins 15^th February and ends 7^th May 2027.

The time from 4^th to 21^st January and from 7^th to 27^th May is a period for preparing the winter and spring end-of-semester work, which all first-year students (and second-year architecture students) must install by 24^th January (winter semester) and 30^th May (spring semester).

There’s no need to come to UMPRUM before 29^th September or do anything special like signing up for classes, picking up your student card or paying for the semester. You can take care of everything only after you arrive at UMPRUM on the first day of school or later.

HOLIDAYS!!

If you want to go for longer holidays during the academic year, the best time is between the end of January and mid-February (remember that you must take all the exams mandatory for your discipline by the beginning of the following semester). The academic year officially finishes the end of June; however, all first-year students can leave – if they have taken all their exams – after the de-installation of their end-of-semester work.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2026 / 2027

Enrolment in the second year of the master’s degree program; by this deadline, you must have earned all credits (at least 60) and have had all grades in STAG for the mandatory lectures, seminars and workshops in the academic year 2025/2026. You can miss only 2 theoretical lectures (these must be transferred to the following academic year). Only then can you be enrolled in the following academic year by the VA coordinator (it’s not necessary to come in person). If you fail to earn enough credits, you will have to repeat the whole academic year again. For more info, see the Study Plans on the UMPRUM intranet.

Beginning of winter semester 2026
Meeting with the VA Coordinator; a chance to learn about the VA schedule, important dates in the academic calendar, life in Prague (student/ISIC card, schedule, etc.), and to tour the Academy + lectures and consultations start

First consultation with VA Tutor Conrad Eric Armstrong; an opportunity to meet all VA students (first-year, second year and third-year students) and the VA tutor

Deadline for submission of your diploma thesis + USB with photos of your diploma project; you will have to print out two copies: one will go to the VA Coordinator, and the other one must be placed next to your diploma project during your diploma defence and the diploma exhibition; your opponent can get an electronic version. The diploma thesis has to be around 15-20 pages long (written text in English without pictures 1 standard page is 1800 characters with spaces), accompanying / describing/ or being inspired by your diploma project; more detailed information on what the thesis should look like, see the intranet).

Students who happen to fail their end-of-semester, i.e. klauzura presentation or who cannot be present for the presentation, can repeat it 23^rd February 2027 (winter semester) and 24^th September 2027 (spring semester). UMPRUM students have two attempts to pass the klauzura presentation. In case they fail, they must repeat the whole academic year again.
